From the day you were born a clock has been ticking. You never know when it’s your time to go, so you try to accomplish things that you can be proud of. Growing up at a very early age people ask you, what do you want to be when you grow up? As you ponder such a question at the age of four years old; individuals are already preparing for the end and the beginning just got started. The “ideal” life is to go to college, find love, have a career, retire and live happily ever after. Nevertheless life happens in the process. Things don’t always go as plan, and the order maybe all over the place.
I’m not sure who came up with the order but those expecations are extremly high. Especially if you’ve been limited to what’s going on in the world. I’m from the Motor City (Detroit Eastside) to be exact & most of the people in my city either worked in the Medical Field or the auto industry such as Ford, Chrysler, GM etc. My family really wanted me to become a nurse because they insisted I would ALWAYS have a job. Which is true but I wanted more than that.
Just recently my mom asked me what am I going to do with my life? She asked if I wanted to get married & have kids. Where do I plan on staying permantely and I was on the phone like “Ma don’t put this pressure on me”. I actually find it hilarious because I actually took my parents advice on not having kids and serious relationships at a early age. They always said when you have no ties you can pick up and go whenever you want. Which is so true because that’s exactly what I do. I’ll relocate in a heartbeat especially if its a good business move at the time. However, don’t get me wrong I always think about how I want to spend my Saturday Nights. Baking cookies (peanut butter & chocolate chip) to be exact while my husband watch espn drinking his beer, and our kids are arguing about the video game or what channel they want to watch. Those thoughts always bring a smile to my face because who wouldn’t want to have a family of their own?
The life I live now is filled with nonstop excitment. From hostings/gigs, attending Games on the regular, enjoying five star restaurants, etc. I even told myself i’m going to travel more, instead of always staying put. I have the luxury to pick up and go whenever I want and I never take that for granted. I’m just trying to live the life I always wanted and i’m blessed that I can actually have the means to do it.
