Every year its an NBA Allstar event that I’ve always appreciated. While watching sports I honestly had a hard time with keeping up with all the players and the teams they played on. All that changed for the better when social media came about and it gave us the chance to follow the people that are near and dear to their hearts the “Wives and Girlfriends”. I’ve learned about the players and would be the first one to say oh that’s her boyfriend, fiancé, or husband, instead of the actual player name. Its so common for the significant other to be known only as their wives but they are so much more than that. Most of them have business ventures of there own from clothing lines, beauty bars, boutiques, and my personal favorite cook books.
While on YouTube I came across a show that I really enjoyed called “Little Light Of Mine” by Ayesha Curry. She showed what her life consists of on a daily basis. Being a mom to her adorable daughters & being the wife to her husband Stephen Curry. When she finally announced she would soon be selling her very own cook book “The Seasoned Life” I was so happy. She even decided to do a meet and greet and by this time I knew I had to be in attendance. I was so excited but nervous the tickets would sell out. While my bestie & I were talking over the phone she purchased my ticket as a surprise and sent it to my email. How lucky was I right?
The day finally came and I stood in line talking to the funniest, sweetest elderly lady. As the line began to move & I walked to her table we were now face to face & my smile was from ear to ear. The first words that came out was I love you, & your beautiful family, she smiled with perfect teeth & said awwww Thank You; I love your hat. We laughed took pictures & while she signed my book she told me to make sure I tag her in the recipes that I try.
This was my first time making a meal from my signed autographed copy of “The Seasoned Life” and what better time to do it than Allstar Weekend. I decided to make her “Sweet & Savory Shrimp & Grits”. It was the perfect dish that made me feel like I was in New Orleans where the game took place. I was surprised how fulfilling it was, I couldn’t even eat the whole bowl. The taste was delicious and I highly suggest you guys purchase the Cook Book I’m sure you wont be disappointed.
