I know what you all maybe thinking, that sounds completely ghetto, right?! As most of you, if not all know that I am obsessed with horror movies. It’s something about me feeling every emotion at once, and it gives me an adrenaline rush. For the past few months I’ve been doing my research and asking people how they feel about the horror genre in general.
It was interesting to hear so many different perspectives. I heard “I don’t want to watch something that scares me”, or one of my favorite quotes “I’m a gangster I watch money movies” in the midst of hearing that I said “well what if a money movie had supernatural activity then what?” His eyes widen and he said “I never thought of it like that” and at that moment a light went off in my head. While watching the Horror Documentary they mentioned how a lot of horror movies take place suburban vs urban settings.
It is true. Is it because we live in a horror movie everyday? Or maybe we would handle situations before it gets out of hand. Honestly, what is the real reason horror movies don’t take place in more realistic settings? I can honestly remember a few horror movies that took place in an urban setting, but the production wasn’t the best.
Luckily for us we now have Jordan Peele and a few other writers, and directors that are starting to take the Horror genre more seriously. I would love to be casted in a horror film where I get to run around in a familiar neighborhood, jumping out of windows, and hopping out of cars. I have a very wild imagination, and I can’t wait to share more ideas with you guys on this so stay tune !!
